PCE Club - 56th Event-Chinese Learning for Heritage Students

The PCE Club will hold its 56th monthly event on Saturday April 12, 2008 in the Asian Cultural Center (#1876 Rt. 27, Edison, NJ 08817). The theme will be "Raising Bilingual Children". Our honored guest speaker will be Ms. Hui Rebecca Wang, a public school world language teacher with experience in Chinese language education for heritage children. She will give a presentation on "Chinese Learning for Heritage Students". She will cover following topics:

Reasons to encourage our children learn Chinese;
The importance of early preparation before formal language study;
How to build heritage students� language proficiency;
Setting realistic goals for proficiency level for K-12 heritage students;
What are SAT II Chinese and AP Chinese and how to prepare for them.

Biography of the speaker:

Ms. Hui Rebecca Wang has been teaching Chinese to heritage students since 1999. She currently teaches Chinese at Thomas Grover Middle School at West Windsor � Plainsboro school district. She graduated with a B.A. in mathematics and economics from Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA.

As usual, this monthly event will start with our signature program - kids' talent show. If your child would like to perform, you need to register for them by specifying your children's name and form of their performance (piano, singing, story-telling, etc.) when you register online. Due to time limitation, only a limit number of children can perform on stage each time. Please register online as soon as possible.

After the kids� talent show, kids under 7 years old will move upstairs to continue with Children's program led by Ms. Zhao while their parents and older kids participating in the seminar downstairs. Ms. Zhao is professionally trained in early children education. Kids love her program!

怎样培养能讲双语孩子

父母子女教育俱乐部将于4月12日举办第五十六期活动

做为华人父母, 我们经常在想怎样培养生活学习在美国的英语环境里孩子们讲双语. 父母子女教育俱乐有幸请来Ms. Hui Rebecca Wang作第五十六期活动的嘉宾. 她是Thomas Grover Middle School的中文老师. 她将给大家讲述给美国长大的华人小孩教育中文的经验. 她的经验包括怎样鼓励孩子学中文, 非正式中文学习的重要性, 怎样设立现实的目标, SAT II中文考试等等.

父母子女教育俱乐部本期的活动还是由孩子的才艺表演开始. 这是给孩子培养表演风格不可多得的机会.本期的儿童活动将请招小惠老师继续为我们主持。
