PCE Club - 35th Monthly Event
2006/07/8 6:30-9:30
The PCE Club will hold its 35th event on Saturday evening (6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.), July 8, 2006 in the Asian Cultural Enterprises Center, 1876 Rt. 27, Edison, NJ 08817. The theme of this event will be "Grow Up with Music", a session of a piano performance by the young pianist Damon Meng intermingled with interactions between the audience and Mr. Hua Meng, Damon's father, on kids' piano learning and playing.
Damon Meng, age 15, is a 9th grade Honor Student of Churchill Junior High School in New Jersey. He began his piano studies at age 4 in Shanghai, China. After he came to the United States, Damon had piano lessons first with pianists Mr. Peter Chen and Mr. Fei Hsiing Hsu in New Jersey. He then passed the audition for both Pre-college of the Juilliard School and Mannes College of Music at age 7. Currently he is studying with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky in Juilliard. Damon has won many prizes and awards including his first prize at the China East Coast Young Artist Piano Competition in Shanghai at age 6, and two first prizes in 16th Annual International Young Artist Piano Competition in Washington, D.C. He was also the winner in the Juilliard Chamber Orchestra Competition when he was 10. This year Damon won the Concerto Competition of The Summit Symphony Orchestra and played the Rachminoff Piano Concerto #2 with this Orchestra as well. Damon has given many public performances and concerts with many orchestras. He also participated twice in Langlang's Master Class both in New York City and Princeton University. This time the Club is very fortunate to have Damon out of his very busy schedule present a performance at its 35th event and very honored too to have his father Mr. Meng share his parenting experience with many other concerned and interested parents.
As usual, the event will start with children's talent show. Due to limited time available (45 minutes only), only pre-registered children can perform. Each performer may perform one piece of his or her choice no longer than three minutes. While the children are performing, we request all the audience to show respect for the performers as well as other audience and keep quiet. If your children would like to perform, you need to register for them by specifying their names and items to perform.
