High school is one of the toughest times in your child's life. While still struggling to balance academics, athletics, and a social life, they also have the newly added pressures of college applications and the thought of their impending departure from home. For many parents, dealing with a teen in high school seems like a never-ending struggle - how can you seem supportive of their decisions while still making sure they are, indeed, making the right choices? How do you maintain a strong and meaningful relationship with your child, even with their inclinations to create their own lives away from you?

In this discussion, Shannon Zhang will speak about her experiences in high school and how her parents and she worked through their differences. Based on her own experiences, she will answer any questions parents may have regarding high school stress levels related to work, social life, etc, how students interact with each other in high school, and also questions regarding any other topics related to getting through high school.

In PCE Club 114th event, we will invite two seasoned Chinese teachers to share their unique experience of home schooling-- teaching Chinese at home. Their students achieve surprisingly high Chinese proficiency. Most importantly, they love Chinese learning.

About Shannon Zhang:

Shannon Zhang is a current senior at The Lawrenceville Prep School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. She will be attending RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) for college and is planning to study architecture. She attended boarding school without her parents in both Beijing and Obninsk, Russia, as a child. Her mother is Bonnie Liao, an experienced educator and advisor of the PCE Club.

Have you even thought about the ultimate goal of kids learning Chinese?

If your kids are struggling with Chinese learning, what is the alternative solution? Can we turn Chinese learning into a fun activity? How do you prioritize the four basic skill of Chinese education: listen, speak, read and write?

In PCE Club 114th event, we will invite two seasoned Chinese teachers to share their unique experience of home schooling-- teaching Chinese at home. Their students achieve surprisingly high Chinese proficiency. Most importantly, they love Chinese learning.

Biography of the one speaker:

Ms. Hui Rebecca Wang graduated with a B.A. in mathematics and economics from Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA. Ms. Wang started her Chinese teaching career at a local Chinese school in 1998. Two years later, she started her own at-home language programs for heritage students. Many of her students have reached high level of reading and speaking proficiency level in just a few years. She is a New Jersey certified Chinese teacher and currently teaches at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in Rumson, New Jersey. Base upon her teaching experience at Chinese school, public school as well as private group teaching, Ms. Wang will share with us some of her unique insight in the area of Chinese language education.

Another speaker will bring her daughter to participate. They will demo to us how to do it.

2013年4月13日,我们将特邀钢琴教育家Dr. Babayev与大家分享怎样将孩子带进音乐的殿堂.许多亚裔家长在孩子的音乐教育上倾注了大量的金钱和精力.儿童早期音乐训练有益于语言和逻缉思维能力的发展.音乐也可成为孩子抒发感情的一个渠道.但是,由于每天练琴的单调和辛苦,孩子往往不愿练琴,这也使家长们很头疼. Dr. Babayev将和大家一起探讨和分享怎样鼓励孩子不仅学会弹琴,更重要的是学会欣赏音乐.对初学者,他也将回答一些很实际的问题比如衡量或选择合适的钢琴老师.

Many of us have invested tremendous financial resource and efforts into our children’s music education. Early musical training helps develop brain areas involved in language and reasoning. Music also provides children with a means of self-expression. However, practice becomes a daily struggle between many parents and their children. The relationship with children could be strained due to constant fight over piano practice. Today we are pleased to announce that Dr. Babayev will present us a seminar on “How to Cultivate Children's Love of Music” on April 13, our 113th monthly event. He will share with us his view and approach on how to encourage children not only learning piano playing but also enjoying the music. For beginners, he will also discuss some practical topics such as how to select the right music/piano teachers for your children.

Dr. Babayev is the founder of Crescendo International Competitions which is a Non-Profit Corporation, organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Its goal is to encourage and motivate young musicians and make music a more significant part of their life. "Music is the greatest gift, and for some of us it is not just a joy, but a chance to see and feel life in color." As President of Crescendo, he has led International Student Exchange Program (SEP) annually to give students opportunity to perform in Europe and Asia in joined recitals with students of local musical schools and colleges.

Dr. Babayev began his career as a concert pianist at age 5 when performed his very first compositions on the stage of State Conservatory of Russia. Educated in State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, La Sorbonne de Paris and Academy of Science of Russia, he was Laureate of the most comprehensive competitions in Russia, Poland, Austria and Germany.

As a music scientist, pianist, composer and conductor, Dr. Babayev has numerous of articles published in prestigious scientific magazines. He has performed in 18 countries and recently with Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Erno Potaki (Hungary). As a composer, Alex Babayev is author of three Symphonies, sonatas, variety of chamber music and number of movie music scores.

Most of parents instinctually know that art is important for our children. Art matters the same way language matters because it goes beyond verbal language to communicate feelings that might not otherwise be expressed! After spending time creating process art, our kids focus better in math, science, and other academic assignments. It is a fundamental component of what makes us uniquely human. We are pleased to announce that Mr. Dong, an experienced art educator, will present us a seminar on “How to Cultivate Children's Love of Art & How Art can shape children's character” March 9, our 112th monthly event.

Mr. Dong is not only the founder of San Cai Art Academy, but also an well-known artist. He graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. After that, he has been studying at Central Institute of Fine Art in China for years. In 2004, he won the top place in classic painting in LA, was awarded to be a member of Portrait Society of America which broadened professional reputation. Mr. Dong’s been selected to be the judge of international photographer association and winning plenty awards ever since 2009.

在2月23日，我们将播放没有向外公开的纪录片“竞争无道”，并由子女教育专家廖冰主持观后讨论。这部影片向人们展示了目前学校给孩子们带来的学习压力以及其带来的精神和身体上的伤害，使父母们不得不冷静下来想清楚所有的竞争是否真的能使孩子们到达他们想要或应该到达的地方？他们走的路真地将会给他们带来幸福和快乐，还是让他们走上了迷路甚至是绝路？作为父母，我们需要做的事是从盲目的竞争中走出来，做到教育有方，竞争有道。

廖冰女士1984年毕业于北京大学物理系。于1991和2000年分别获休斯顿大学物理博士和罗格斯大学工商管理硕士。廖冰从2002年开始创办非营利英华语言学校，推广《马立平中文》教学。2004年成立“英华在北京”语言与领导能力暑期班，并担任新州父母子女教育俱乐部总顾问，着重于儿童及青少年情商开发与培养，增进父母与子女的交流。2007她创建了采用国际化探究式教育法的中英双语英华国际学校。2012年成立英华普林斯顿语言与国际领导力暑期学院，带领来自非英语国家的学生在美国劳伦斯威尔私立高中进行学习与实践。在教育事业上历时十多年的研发和奋斗，使廖冰积攒了丰富的儿童及青少年教育经验，为新洲华人父母如何教子提供了无数宝贵的建议，开阔了人们的眼界，改变了父母认识问题的角度。希望大家能够来参加这次机会难得的教育探讨。

About the Film

"Race to Nowhere" is a film that calls us to challenge current thinking about how we prepare our children for success. On February 23, the documentary “Race to Nowhere” will be showed, and Dr. Bonnie Liao, an experienced children's educator, will lead the discussion after the screening. Dr. Bonnie Liao has been the principal & trustee of YingHua Language School, which she founded in 2002. YingHua is the first community-based school accredited by CSS at Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2004, she designed and initiated the "YingHua in Beijing" Summer Language & Leadership Institute. Dr. Liao founded YingHua International School as one of the first Chinese-English dual language schools in the United States combining language immersion with an internationally-focused inquiry-based curriculum framework in 2007. Her latest accomplishment is the establishment of summer institute in the Lawrenceville School for students from non-English speaking countries in 2012.

More than 10 years of research and practice in education and being the parent of two high school seniors, Dr. Bonnie Liao has accumulated tremendous parenting experience and been frequently giving educational talks in PCE club. Her focus has been on developing and cultivating children’s emotional quotient (EQ) and communicating with children. Many teachers and parents become frustrated when children past the age of learning to read are still struggling or display little interest in reading or writing. We are pleased to announce that Ms. Melissa Edwards and Mr. Glenn Schiltz, two very experienced English teachers, will give us a talk on “how to help your child become a lifelong reader and writer” January 12, our 110th monthly event.

Ms. Melissa Edwardss holds teaching certifications in reading, language arts, English and journalism. She taught K-12 for nearly a decade and has been teaching English language arts and journalism at college for more than 9 years. In addition, she directs a private creative writing program for children ages 3 to 17. Ms. Edwards will talk about the reading/writing connection and how parents can leverage children’s emerging reading to move them toward a love of writing.

Mr. Glenn Schiltz was a middle school educator, whose students consistently exceeded the state standards for reading comprehension. His activities are based on reading research. Mr. Schiltz will discuss what parents can do to help their children to better understand what they read.

时光荏苒。创建于2003年的父母子女教育俱乐部已经在不知不觉中走过了9个春秋。在过去的9年里，俱乐部成功地举办了108期关于子女教育的研讨交流活动。从活动中受益的是身负养育子女重任的家长，是每一个俱乐部成员家庭的孩子，也是我们生活于其中的社区。

一年一度的节日季节又要来临了！让我们集聚一堂，庆祝我们走过的平凡却又成果丰硕的一年，庆祝我们为人父母的权权之心和为之付出的努力，也庆祝我们健康成长的儿女和更加和美的家庭. 新朋老友，欢迎大家参加！

Ann是哈佛商学院（Harvard Business School)MBA二年级学生. 她立志于通过娱乐和媒体,向跨文化的观众,创建和提供有意义的，激励人心的故事.

Lynn目前在蒙特克莱尔州立大学(Montclair State University)攻读音乐学士学位,导师Don Batchelder是纽约市歌剧院的首席小号.

About Ms. Yiping Guo:

Yiping Guo currently holds the position of Manager, Country Offices Cash Management, UN Development Programme (UNDP). In this capacity, she oversees advisory services to 160 field offices and regional centers to promote best practices in banking services procurement, working capital management, foreign exchange, crisis response, and UN agency relationships. Yiping is a financial professional with more than 20 years of experience in the field of treasury management. Prior to UNDP, Yiping spent close to 15 years in the financial guaranty industry, starting as an intern and ascending to Vice President and Assistant Treasurer. Yiping received her BA in Business Administration and Accounting from Baruch College in 1989. She passed the CPA exam and earned the Certified Treasury Professional designation. She is a member of the Association for Financial Professionals.

Yiping accepted Christ and was baptized on New Year’s Day in 2006. She has been an active supporter of various Christian missions involving orphan care and education for poor children. She enjoys books, classical music, and opera, and is a member of Voice of Praise Choir.

Yiping resides in Mahwah, New Jersey with her husband and has two grown daughters.

About Yiping's daughter Ann Chao:

Ann Chao is a second year MBA student at Harvard Business School. She is pursuing a career in entertainment and media with the aim of creating and delivering meaningful, inspiring stories to audiences across cultures. This past summer she interned at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and at Mirada, a transmedia studio founded by director Guillermo del Toro. Her projects at Lincoln Center included the design of a business plan for Lincoln Center's consulting arm, improving its fundraising strategy, shaping the digital distribution strategy of Live from Lincoln Center, and profiling the Chinese performing arts landscape. At Mirada, she worked on creative development - script coverage, shaping story concepts and app designs with writers, programmers and artists, and generating ideas for screenplays - as well as business strategy for the company's entrepreneurial ventures in the mobile space.

Before HBS, she worked as a consultant in the China offices of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, a German management consulting firm. Her projects encompassed energy, financial services, logistics, and automotive industries, shaping corporate strategy, branding & marketing, market entry, and other strategic issues.

Ann completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard and majored in Social Studies and East Asian Studies. She wrote her thesis on employment opportunities for the blind in China, and spent a year at Peking University taking management and international relations classes. Throughout her studies and work, Ann has volunteered at orphanages and organizations assisting people with disabilities in China. From 2006-2007, she and her family were dedicated to aiding a young blind orphan, Lu Chunyu, battle a brain tumor, which eventually led to her passing in fall 2007. Ann wrote about this difficult spiritual journey in her blogs at achao913.blogspot.com and annchao.wordpress.com.

Ann enjoys creative writing, piano, and international travel. At HBS she serves as the co-president of the Christian Fellowship, the Chief Creative Officer of the Entertainment & Media Club, and a writer for the HBS Show.

About Yiping's daughter Lynn Chao:

Lynn Chao, 21, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance with Don Batchelder, principal trumpet of the New York City Opera, at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University (MSU) and simultaneously completing the academic Honors Program on a full merit scholarship. Since entering MSU, in addition to playing in the Wind Ensemble, orchestra (Principal Trumpet for 2012-2013 season), Trumpet Ensemble and Brass Force Five, a quintet on campus, Lynn has been active in the music scene in the New York area and has performed in various venues including Issac Stern Hall and Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center, as well as Juilliard’s Jay Sharp Center, Merkin Hall, and Symphony Space. During last winter break, she joined Park Avenue Symphony’s China Tour, performing nine concerts in nine cities including Beijing. She was a member of the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program for the 2011- 2012 Season and the New York Youth Symphony for the 2010 - 2011 Season. She has also been invited to perform as a guest member of the UN Orchestra, Baltimore Youth Orchestra, and ISO. Lynn has participated in various music festivals and trumpet seminars including prestigious Orford Music Academy, Tanglewood Institute, Eastern Music Festival, Atlantic Brass, and Metropolis Brass Masterclass in Belgium.

Lynn was a full merit scholarship student in Juilliard Pre-College. In her high school years, in addition to being a member of the Juilliard Pre-College Symphony, Orchestra, and Honor Brass Quintet, she successfully auditioned for All State and North Region Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, and was selected as the 2008 NJ Governor School of the Arts Finalist for Trumpet.

Lynn has been active in music ministries, performing with the orchestra at the Hawthorne Gospel Church, alongside the principal trumpet of the NY Philharmonic, and has been the designated trumpeter for Ridgewood St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church’s Christmas and Easter programs for past three years. In addition, Lynn served as the piano accompanist for Fardale Chapel in her hometown Mahwah for six years after her sister Ann left for college.

Lynn accepted Christ and was baptized on September 11, 2011. She joined 2012 Campus Crusade for Christ Summer Mission in East Asia and has grown and been blessed in all aspects of life. She enjoys music, arts, animation and travel. Like Ann, she loves China..

Time flies. Established in 2003, the Parents Children Education Club (PCE) has passed its 9-year mark. In the past 9 years, PCE successfully planned and carried out 108 sessions of discussions on assorted parenting topics. The activities benefit parents, who bear the major responsibility of child-raring, their children, and the community we live in.

Now with the holiday season fast approaching, let us get together once again to celebrate yet another fruitful year of PCE! Let us celebrate the courage, the wisdom, and most of all, the commitment we demonstrated toward educating our children. Let us celebrate our children. They are the treasure of our lives. What could be more rewarding in watching them growing into healthy, happy, and wholesome human beings under our guidance?! Maybe you didn't even get a chance to ask any questions at the annual parenting conference even though the issue has already bothered you for quite a long time? Maybe you felt the urgency to make changes after the conference but don't know where to start? Maybe you've already familiarized yourself with EQ parenting theory but just don't know how to put it into practice? Maybe you worry that the fresh theory won't stay in your mind for too long before you taking any actions? On November 3, Ms. Bonnie Liao, a famous children's education expert in NJ, will be invited as the moderator of the round table discussion. For the past 10 years, Ms. Bonnie Liao has been the Principal & Trustee of YingHua Language School , which she founded in May 2002. YingHua Language is the first community-based school accredited by CSS at Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. She has also initiated and designed the "YingHua in Beijing " Summer Language & Leadership Institute providing learning opportunities to American youth ages 8 to 17 who spend a month in China . She has been the Director of the program since 2004. In May 2007, she founded YingHua International School as one of the first Chinese-English dual language schools in the United States combining language immersion with an internationally-focused inquiry-based curriculum framework.

The PCE Club presents the 106th Monthly Event:

The college search, application, and admission process requires a lot of work. It can also be difficult and confusing for your child. You, as parents, should play a "significant role" in the entire process. Your major roles are providing guidance and support. Your encouragement and assistance can make the experience much easier and less stressful. You can help by dismissing myths such as "the college you attend makes you for the rest of your life". No institution can do that. There is no such thing as only one perfect college for each college-bound student. You can help your child find the college that suits his or her individual needs.

Dominic and Elaine will share how parents can fulfill their "significant role": how to guide their child in college planning and develop the timeline of tasks during the high school years, what the key admission criteria are, what college is worth the "price", how to choose the "right" college, how to prepare for interviews, how to avoid common mistakes made by applicants and parents, most of all, how to enjoy and make the most of the college planning experience that strengthens family relationships!

Dominic and Elaine Kung
Dominic grew up in Hong Kong. He joined Dow Chemical after completing his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Cornell University in 1985. Currently he is working for Borealis - an European chemical company. Elaine was born and raised in Hong Kong. She earned her college and graduate degrees from Cornell and Princeton in Electrical and Materials Science Engineering. She has been working at AT&T since 1985. AT&T sponsored her through graduate school at Princeton while she was working part time at Bell Labs. Prior to meeting each other at Cornell, both of them have also attended state universities in Delaware, Iowa and Maryland.

Outside of work, Dominic and Elaine have been active in serving at local churches in NJ since 1985, in teaching children and youth, coaching youths in serving at church and planning for college, sharing of parenting experiences. They have helped many young people and parents with college planning and applications over the years, both for their own children and extended families, and for friends and others in the community. Elaine is an active alumnus serving on the board and committees for Cornell and Princeton, including interviews with college applicants and hosting college fairs at local high schools. They have been happily married since 1986, blessed with two wonderful children: Grace (working as a financial analyst in NYC) and Christopher (working as an engineer in San Diego). They live in Basking Ridge, NJ.

俱乐部非常荣幸地请到了长期担任社区及国际狮子会领导职务的黄杰源先生。黄先生出生成长于马尼拉。70年代来美接受高等教育并获得BS和MBA学位。由于黄先生杰出表现和贡献，他先后获得过很多奖项。黄先生还致力于培养青少年成为富有人道精神的人材及未来的领袖人物。在他的倡导下，好几个青少年狮子会在新泽西州先后成立。这次他将来与大家分享他在培养青少年领导能力方面的想法，做法，与自己亲生经历的体会与经验。令我们欣慰的是他的夫人，Mrs. Linnie Hui, 也将到场与我们一起探讨这个主题。Mrs. Hui 是Edison Metros Lions Club的现任会长。这已是她第二次被选容任这个职务。欢迎家长及青少年来参加这次很有意义的活动。

It is not uncommon to hear some Asian American parents “complain” that their children are too shy or too quiet, reluctant to speak in public places, or not eager to take leadership roles, and so on, though many of them are academically high achievers. Do you have the same concern about your children? Are you interested in learning how to develop leadership skills in the youth? If yes, please come to join us in the PCE Club’s 104th event to be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012. The club is very pleased to invite Mr. Eddie Hui, a long-term leader in the Lions Clubs and the community, to be our speaker in this leadership seminar.

Mr. Hui is very committed to the service-oriented Lions clubs International that he joined 18 years ago. He has held many leadership positions in the Lions clubs as well as in the community. He also received numerous awards for his leadership and community services. Mr. Hui is committed to motivate youth to become humanitarians and future leaders. In this event, Mr. Hui will cover: 1).The importance of leadership training & public service experience during high school years. 2).What facilities are available for today’s youth? 3). 汤丽娟女士简介
汤丽娟现任火凤凰文化协会会长，曾任华夏中文学校校刊主编和副总校长，并主管宣传工作。作为作者，她在网络和平面媒体发表过大量散文、短篇小说和随笔。其中很多是有关子女教育的文章。例如：《浅谈美国的儿童教育》《为女铺成五彩路》等等。随着她的女儿进入大学和高中，汤丽娟对子女教育有了更多的心得和体会。在2011 年，结合“虎妈” 的议题，她在北美新天地中文网络电视台《泽西杂谈》频道主持了系列电视座谈，引起很多关注。目前她在华夏中部（Montgomery）分校主持子女教育俱乐部，并举办了三期子女教育的座谈和讲座。

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Lijuan Tang will give us a talk on “how to facilitate effective communication with your child” on June 16, at our 103rd monthly event. Ms. Tang has been an active writer, authoring numerous essays and articles, many of which are on the topic of parenting and education. She is the current president of Red Phoenix USA, and in the past has served as the chief editor of the school magazine of Huaxia Chinese School and its assistant principal. Ms. Tang’s presentation will focus on effective parenting practices, such as striking a sound balance between setting limits and providing safety net, and between being a friend and an authority figure.

Mrs. Kung’s bio：
Elaine was born and raised in Hong Kong. She earned her college and graduate degrees from Cornell and Princeton in Electrical and Materials Science Engineering. She has been working at AT&T since 1985. AT&T sponsored Elaine through graduate school at Princeton while she was working part time. Over the years, Elaine held technical and business roles for a wide range of products and services. She is currently the Director of AT&T Mobility Solutions Services. In 2011, Elaine was the recipient of the Industry Career Achievement Award from STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Conference for Women of Color. Outside of work, Elaine and her husband Dominic have been active in serving at local churches in teaching children and youths, coaching youths in serving and planning for college, sharing of parenting experiences, planning conferences that equip and motivate people to do their best at work. Elaine is anactive alumnus serving on the board and committees for Cornell and Princeton, including interviews with college applicants, hosting college fairs at local high schools, and chairing the Reunions Committee. Elaine has been happily married to Dominic since 1986, blessed with two wonderful children: Grace (working in NYC) and Christopher (new college graduate, to work in San Diego). They live in Basking Ridge, NJ.

廖冰女士简介： Dr. Bonnie Liao. For the past 9 years, she has been the Principal & Trustee of YingHua Language School , which she founded in May 2002. YingHua Language is the first community-based school accredited by CSS at Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. She has also initiated and designed the "YingHua in Beijing " Summer Language & Leadership Institute providing learning opportunities to American youth ages 8 to 17 who spend a month in China . She has been the Director of the program since 2004. In May 2007, she founded YingHua International School as one of the first Chinese-English dual language schools in the United States combining language immersion with an internationally-focused inquiry-based curriculum framework.

美术家杨来雁女士简介：
四川美术家协会会员。四川美术学院国画专业硕士。2005年获得学士学位并获免试推荐及全额奖学金继续研修绘画艺术，获得硕士学位。3年大型专业艺术机构从业经验，5年幼儿至成人艺术培训经验。成功辅导学生通过少儿专业艺术考级（最高十级）及通过专业美术院校艺术类高考。作品多次参加大型艺术展（多本画册出版）艺术节并获奖。作品曾被博物馆，画廊，一线影视明星收藏。

张冰冰博士简介 鋼琴家張冰冰女士生於中國大陸，長於香港，以最高學術成績獎畢業於香港浸會大學音樂系，並獲頒英國倫敦聖三一音樂學院研究演奏文憑。她繼以獎學金身份赴波士頓音樂學院攻讀演奏碩士，並獲該院頒發國家學術榮譽獎，隨後獲得羅格斯大學鋼琴藝術博士學位。張女士曾多次參加世界性的音樂節及大師班活動，並於德國、俄羅斯、捷克及法國等國家作獨奏演出。她不但長於獨奏、伴奏及室內樂演出，同時也熱衷於鋼琴教育的工作。張女士曾任教於普林斯頓思敏寺音樂學院，擔任全國音樂教師協會表演比賽主席，更經常做國內外多項比賽評審，為本地音樂教師做演講，更被國家音樂協會鑑定為“被認可的音樂教育家”。

九月二十四日父母子女教育俱乐部将举行一场有关艺术特长在大学申请中的作用的特别座谈会。由莎伦画院总校长刘莎伦以及艺术总监Emily Cui 主讲。Emily Cui目前是莎伦画院艺术总监， 毕业于罗得岛美术学院（全美排名第一）工业设计系。她从小在莎伦画院学画，很有艺术才华。这次刘校长和Emily来给大家分享申请艺术学院的经验和体会。

父母子女教育俱乐部2011年6月18日第九十一期活动 – "了解代溝"

執業護理師王秀蘭女士將主講“了解代溝”, 內容包含加強與子女，朋友或親屬溝通, 了解年輕一代的行為，防止，面對，及處理彼此之間的矛盾及衝突. 不管你是父親或母親或祖父母, 了解代溝可以增加 良性的溝通與避免幾代人之間的衝突. 什麼是代溝？由於雙方年紀差別，導致雙方的興趣，喜好，心態，對不同事物的看法等各方面都有不同的見解，因此引起了溝通的問題，這稱之為「代溝」。

溝通常常牽涉了信息發送者，信息接收者，信息內容,等等. 精通溝通可以幫助人与群体之间思想与感情正面的传递, 家人間良好溝通可間接教導青春期子女如何跟人和平共處.

"了解代溝" 即在向為人父母者提示如何和青春子女和諧相處與化解衝突之道。放下身段，和孩子做朋友，是搭建父母親與青春期子女和平共處的重要橋樑。

Mrs. Shiow-Lan Wang is a certified nurse practitioner. She is currently working as a clinical nurse specialist in the cardiology areas at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for the last 20 years. Her jobs at the hospital are included writing policies and procedures to guide nursing practice, teaching nurses, and involving performance improvements in four units.

She has a 21 years old daughter who will be graduated in a college with double majors in 3.5 years. Her daughter is currently working as summer internship in Boeing aircraft company in Seattle. Shiow-Lan has been a teacher for the last 32 years.

父母子女教育俱乐部将于2011年3月19日举办第八十八期活动，本次活动的主题是“寻找自己独特的亲子教育原则和方式“。我们都有这样的体会，看了一本子女教育的好书，或听了一场精彩的子女教育的讲座，觉得很有道理,很受启发.但当实际操作时，好像总有点不知如何下手的感觉；是应该象虎妈那样‘逼’孩子呢，还是应该以激励和引导孩子为主；什么时候应该坚持原则不让步，什么时候应该尊重和考虑孩子的意愿，怎样掌握这个尺度。本次活动，将继续上个月“怎样培养孩子的学习和求知兴趣及动力”的讨论，黄敏将用她个人的一些经验和体会，与大家分享她的亲子教育原则，她是如何在尝试和摸索中，运用这些原则来帮助做出选择和决定的。只有符合你和孩子个性的亲子教育方式，才是最有效的方式，所以讨论会的后半部分将会由大家一起来讨论,如何寻找每个人独特的亲子教育原则和方式。每个做家长的都有自己的困惑，体会和经验，让我们共同来互相交流，磋商和取经。欢迎有兴趣的家长和青少年报名参加讨论会。

父母子女教育俱乐部将于9月25举办第八十二期活动.本次活动的主题是“助人即助己”。很多家长意识到孩子光注重学业是不够的。引导孩子为社区服务，做一些慈善性的工作应该值得提倡。

这次俱乐部又一次荣幸地请来了已多次为俱乐部主持“实话实说”活动的并对青少年教育有丰富经验的赵仲宜女士来带领这次的讨论会。另外俱乐部指导顾问廖冰博士14岁的女儿Shannon Zhang 也将来和同龄人分享她作义工的经验。欢迎有兴趣的家长和孩子报名参加讨论会。

We are in great pleasure to invite Henry Meng to share his child education experience. [His son, Damon, attended the prestigious Julliard school pre-college Division before entering college for many years and is just completed his first year in Harvard.] Henry will share his experience as parent who joggling between demanding work and son's heavy training schedule.

We often hear from mother side of story. This is great opportunity for us to hear from father side of experience along with many of communication related issues that we as parents facing regularly. How to overcome the problems and handle issues? Henry will tell us his accumulation of knowledge. Wish you will join us for this unique occasion!

We encourage both parents' participation for the full benefit of the subject. PCE made a special arrangement to have a teacher to take care of younger children to do arts and crafts. At the last event, the teacher did a wonderful job and each child took home a couple of fun projects.

PCE would like to start a public speaking program for the teens while parents are having our own discussion. Our teens can have their own activity. Alex Jia who will lead our teenage program had many good items for the teenage group and having a dedicated room for their activity really help PCE a great deal to offer the teenage program. We hope that you can bring your teenagers so that they themselves can also enjoy this wonderful event.

PCE will conduct its 80th event featuring "EQ is Believing Yourself". In this club we have always been focusing on EQ development, and we are inviting parents to share their experience concerning this subject.

Betty Tuan is the mother of four, and she also worked in the IT area. Currently, Betty has been devoting her time in managing the NJCCC and Elite Preparatory Academy with her husband Jimmy Hwang.

I am honored to invite her coming to this PCE event to share her experience with us. Each of Betty's four children have their own unique story to tell that Betty will explain to us. She was able to recognize the difference among the four and apply different methods to take care each of her children. Let's find out how she did it and what we can learn from her methods and procedures.

父母子女教育俱乐部将于7月11日(星期六)在Holmdel Park举办年度野餐, 欢迎新州各界 友好团体友人参加我们的聚会。节目包括百家宴Pot Luck Party, 乐队演出, 才艺表演, 义 卖筹资等娱乐活动。俱乐部年度野餐是我们的传统活动，每次活动都吸引近百人参加。通过举办活动，家长们互相交流子女教育的心得体会，孩子们认识新朋友。
